Except for graduations (Kindergarten at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12, and 5th grade at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13), it's all about next year. Look for information coming home in backpacks in the first weeks of the 2007/2008 school year!

LHSA Position DescriptionsAll officers on the board should be ready to make a commitment to helping organize and assist at all major social events (Back-to-School event at Worthington Park, Fall Open House, Family Fun Night, Spring Carnival). Also, a two-year commitment to a board position is desirable.Chair: Attend and organize monthly meetings, prepare agendas, communicate with parents and other officers and coordinators. Event coordinator: Attend monthly meetings. Chair subcommittees for three annual events (Open House, Family Fun Night, Carnival) to organize and oversee work done by parent volunteers. Communicate with other officers and coordinators. Fundraising coordinator: Attend monthly meetings. Communicate with other officers and coordinators. Receive fundraising phone calls, prepare summary of fundraising options (approx. 3 per year) and present at LHSA meetings. Coordinate and oversee fundraising events. Secretary: Attend monthly meetings, take minutes, write and distribute minutes to all students' parents/guardians monthly via teachers (kids' backpacks) and send to website coordinator. Communicate with other officers and coordinators. Treasurer: Attend monthly meetings. Keep accurate accounts of LHSA expenditures and income, including counting and depositing money received from events and fundraising. Prepare and present monthly budget report. Communicate with other officers and coordinators. Adjunct position: SPARC coordinator: Find, and provide administrative support to, K-3 grade classroom volunteers, who assist with distribution of 70 backpacks. Work averages about 1 hr/week, with more time needed at beginning and end of school year. Responsibilities include finding volunteers, preparing classroom folders, sending out memos, and maintaining backpacks (issue bags, maintain contents, do end-of-year collection and inventory.) |
